Hangar Doors Cost What?!

From the defense.gov website (Contracts: 28-Nov-2016),

"G-W Management Services LLC,* Rockville, Maryland, is being awarded a $7,369,000 firm-fixed-price contract for the construction of four hangar doors at Hangar 111 at Naval Air Station Patuxent River."

What are these doors made out of - an alloy of mithril and adamantium with solid gold fittings?

  1. OK I chuckled heartily at the scifi cross-mogination, well done.

I'm assuming they are going to start hangering your aircraft carriers, cos those have to be the biggest doors ever !

Wait till you see the price of the dry dock to go with them, cos Rockville isn't that near the sea.

  2. The rest of us are clearly in the wrong line of work.

  3. They cost whatever the defense industry wants them to cost apparently.

Jokes about line of worth notwithstanding, this will bankrupt the US if this goes on. The defense industry has no sense of patriotic loyalty. They serve their own wallets it seems and nobody else, charging whatever profit margin they choose.

  4. I checked and this job was competitively bidded. Hopefully, the lowest bidder won.
